- you want to share your photos
- you want to preserve old photos
- you want to make further prints from your photos
- you want to keep your photos safe and backed up professionally
- you want to buy personalised gifts - why pay extra for scanning when you really only want the T-shirt?
- you're not sure how good your scanned photos will look
- you want to create a photo album and you're not sure exactly how many images you'll need
- you don't want to pay to have your photos scanned.
Is there some catch? How does a free business work?
Our service is free at the point of consumption.
We’ll scan your photos to the same high standards as an ordinary paid for photo scan service. We turn the photos the right way round, we boost faded colours, we scan at high resolution to industry standard jpg data files. The online album is created for you with all the features and facilities you’d have if you invested in the service yourself directly.
If you go with a traditional scanning service they make a profit from their service. Then, when you buy a canvas print, or a mouse mat with you grandchild’s photo on it you’re making a contribution to a second organisation’s profits.
Free photo scanning is possible because we’ve found a range of photo print and gift suppliers who will share their profit with us. We have calculated that income from these items will be sufficient to fund our service.
Free photo scanning is NOT the right option if ...
- You definitely want to buy a digital image of every photo, you'll save money by using 1Scan.
- If you don't want to have an online album created for you.
- If you want your photos scanned to tiff format.
- If your originals are slides or negatives.
In these cases we recommend you use our sister service 1Scan.
